Coach Hughes's son JT (John-Thomas) was diagnosed with Autism at two years old. Fortunately, his early diagnosis allowed for support systems to be put in place to help JT thrive. While his journey has its challenges, each has been equally met with blessings. JT’s diagnosis has taught Coach Hughes about Autism and individual learning differences. To simplify a complicated matter, we each learn differently. We believe individuals with special needs are not disabled. They can do things in their own unique, inspiring way! Our ongoing experiences inspire and motivate us to be the best parents, relatives, coaches, and community members. As advocates for creating more opportunities for inclusiveness in the workplace, we believe in your power to make a difference. We hope you can one day seek out and hire neurodiverse individuals to work in your store.

Autism Resources

Autism affects all ethnic and socioeconomic groups. Early intervention affords the best opportunity to support healthy development and deliver benefits across the lifespan. Currently, there is no medical detection for Autism. For more information, visit AutismSpeaks.org. In addition, The Autism Society has a national Helpline that offers our trained Information & Referral (I&R) Specialists to provide resources. To speak to an I&R Specialist directly, call 800-3-AUTISM (800-328-8476), or email: info@autism-society.org.
